I started out in the early 80's in high school and worked for Eli Rios, when he was with Longhorn Boot Company in Deep South Texas! After nearly 10 years as a pro rodeo bull fighter, I retired from the arena! I then started making Rodeo Chaps here in Central Texas.
I was hired by the Movie "8 Seconds" and got my name in the credits as one of the "chapmakers" That was great advertising!!! I was also one of the first people in the country to make a bull riding vest! I also did work for the movie "All the Pretty Horses"! Although my contract didn't include any "credit listings". That's where I get the "famous" from! I had a retail location just north of San Antonio, TX known as Bulverde Saddlery! I was very successful, made about 20 saddles, along with full repairs and other custom items, I stayed booked for six months out! The area saw a “boom” and retail rental locations got so expensive, I couldn’t survive! So I had to close the shop, and go into another field.
I currently Haul Heavy and Oversized equipment. I have a lot of free time between loads. A few years ago, I started “collecting” vintage sewing machines and leather working equipment! I didn’t intend to start doing leather work just yet, but a hernia surgery put me at home recovering for 3 months! so I started dabbling with different projects to kill the time!
I am currently looking for a property that I can build a shop on! I won’t rent again, with what happened years ago!
I‘m concentrating on finding and building a shop more so than I am on taking custom orders! I don’t want to have a long waiting list, then try to build up a shop on top of that!
I will continue to build things here and there, until I get the shop set up!
